Today, I am closely examining a projector that was designed using the same philosophy.

Physical Description

The Vankyo X3 weighs in at 3.98 pounds. It is 6 inches wide, 6.5 inches deep, and 9.1 inches high. The projector’s outer shell is composed of white plastic with gray fabric concealing the lower half. A power button is located at the top. A lens and infrared port are positioned at the front of this projector, with a pair of 3W speakers well hidden beneath its fabric covering. Air is sucked inside the device through a rear-mounted grill, cooling the inside components before being forced out. An HMDI port, USB port, infrared port, audio jack, and power input are located at the back, along with a PU leather carrying handle. This projector enjoys a native resolution of 1920 x 1080P. It is rated at 300 ANSI lumens with a contrast ratio of 1000:1. My package included the projector, user guide, power cable, HDMI cable, and a remote.

Brightness

The brightness of projectors is typically calculated in ANSI lumens. The Vankyo X3, which boasts an output of 300 ANSI lumens, can operate effectively in lowlight conditions. Walter Shillington

Resolution

Native resolution refers to the projector’s fixed horizontal and vertical pixel count. The Vankyo X3 has a native resolution of 1920 x 1080p and supports 576i, 576p, 720i, 720p, 1080i, and 1080p. The picture quality you view on the screen is partially determined by the media being played. A movie streamed at 720p is projected at the same resolution.

Contrast

Contrast refers to the ratio of the light reflected from a completely white image and a completely black image. A higher contrast ratio results in the ability to discern more significant variations in shade and detail. The Vankyo X3’s contrast ratio is 1000:1, which indicates a projected white image is 1000 times brighter than a projected black image. Walter Shillington Walter Shillington

Keystone Correction

The keystone effect is the apparent distortion of an image caused by projecting it onto an angled surface. While some projectors utilize internal LCD panels to minimize this distortion, the Vankyo X3 relies on placement. The projector must face the center of the viewing surface, allowing it to produce a properly proportioned image. As the resulting image size increases in all directions as the projector is moved farther and farther from its screen, the height of the table on which it sits must be considered. A nearby dresser will be sufficient if you are projecting a 40-inch image onto a bedroom wall. On the other hand, a 100-inch projected image might require placing the projector on a shelf rather than a table.

Focus

The focus of this projector is controlled using its remote. The Vankyo X3 focuses extraordinarily well, exhibiting excellent detail within all areas of the image. Walter Shillington

Bluetooth

A Bluetooth-capable external speaker system can wirelessly connect to the projector’s audio output. This device’s Bluetooth system also allows an outside source, such as a smartphone, to play music over its speakers.

Audio and Speaker System

The Vankyo Performance X3 is fitted with a pair of four-ohm, three-watt speakers. These speakers perform well, providing a crisp and clear sound with plenty of volume. Walter Shillington Overall, this projector’s audio output surpasses its similarly priced competition due to its ability to decode and play Dolby Digital Plus audio. I also tested the Vankyo X3 with my 90W Tribit external speaker, connecting the devices via Bluetooth. This provided theatre-level sound with solid bass and even higher volume.

Brightness Tests

In the middle of the day, I switched off the interior lights, turned on the projector, and streamed an episode of Black Summer. The image was significantly faded, and much of its color washed away. I closed the room’s heavy drapes and tried again. While the image remained noticeably faded, the colors were more robust. After the sun dipped behind the horizon, I repeated the experiment, streaming the movie Safety Is Not Guaranteed. The projected image was extremely bright, sharp, and detailed. The contrast was also good, although it was sometimes difficult to differentiate between the shades of gray in dark scenes. Overall, viewing enjoyment was high.

The Media Stick

This projector functions well with either a Fire TV or a Roku media stick attached. Once I turn on the projector, it conveniently switches directly to the main screen of whichever media stick is connected. Like most devices of this type, volume must be controlled using the projector’s remote. Walter Shillington

Ceiling Mount

A ceiling mount supports the projector in a stable position overhead. Once set up correctly, the projector’s focus and keystone correction should not require further adjustment. While useful, this option would negate the portability of the projector.

Projector Screen

I own a 100-inch pull-down screen. When comparing the screen to the light blue backdrop of my wall, there is little change in the projected image’s sharpness. Colors, however, were noticeably brighter, and the screen professionally framed the movie being viewed.

Overall Assessment

While not appropriate for use in daylight, the Vankyo X3 projects a very focused and bright image in lowlight environments. The projector’s native resolution is excellent, and its contrast is good. Walter Shillington The Vankyo X3 is equipped with WiFi, allowing it to mirror movies and games from a smartphone. It is also Bluetooth-capable, facilitating the connection of an external speaker. This projection system is easy to operate, especially when matched to a Roku or Fire TV media stick. The Vankyo Performance X3 is worth a close look if you are searching for a portable projector.
