1. Dropbox

When it comes to cloud storage, Dropbox stands first. It has been on the top of all cloud storage app lists. Despite its somewhat limited free storage capacity of 2 GB – this can be expanded though by doing things like leaving feedback, following the company without spending any cash. For up to 1 TB of space, it’ll cost $99 each year. If you want more than 1 TB, you’ll need to spring for a business plan. 3. Google Drive

Google Drive has been the recipient of several new sharing and folder features that make it quite powerful for cloud storage. With 15 GB of free storage, its range of integrated document, spreadsheet and presentation platforms and straightforward collaboration settings, it’s versatile enough to present a convincing argument for most users. Google Drive is the logical choice for the average user that doesn’t need to store their whole life in the cloud. 4. OneDrive

OneDrive is primed for use with Microsoft products like Word, Excel and PowerPoint. At its most basic, OneDrive is free online storage similar to that offered by Google Drive. It has also been integrated into third-party and Microsoft apps for easier access. It features (optional) automatic photo and video backup, as well as simple sharing features. It’s free for limited (up to 5 GB of storage) personal use, and $100 per year package includes 5 TB of file storage and access to Office 365 Home edition. iOS here Android here

5. Box

There are a lot of features in Box that you would not probably use but it’s probably the best if you’re looking for an enterprise level solution. New users can sign up for personal accounts for free and get 10 GB of free storage while $10/month gets you 100 GB. iOS here Android here


MEGA gives you a generous 50 GB just for signing up, but also offers a focus on privacy. All your files are encrypted and decrypted on your device and not by MEGA’s servers, keeping your private information private. It does come with the added complexity of bandwidth limitations though. It comes with a range of storage options that span from 200GB to 4 TB. For more than 50 GB of storage that’s available for free, you can pay between €4.99 and €29.99 per month for up to 4 TB of space and 8 TB of bandwidth. iOS here Android here

7. SkyDrive (Microsoft OneDrive)

SkyDrive integrates directly with a variety of Windows products. For starters, can get 5GB of free cloud storage and you can upgrade to 100GB for $1.99 or 200GB for $3.99. In most cases, each Office 365 subscriber will get 1TB of storage and access to Microsoft Office.
