The technology is incredible to see in action, and it’s likely the future, but not without extensive research and testing. That’s what Tesla has been up to for years, but not before releasing beta versions of the tech for $12,000 to its customers. Well, judging by the state that this poor, toddler-sized crash dummy is in after an interaction with a Tesla in Autopilot, we’re glad it’s that expensive of an upgrade at the very least.

This video, posted by an account known simply as CandleJenner on TikTok, shows a white Tesla driving right through a child-sized crash dummy in a parking lot. You can see a person behind the wheel of the car inside and someone in the front passenger seat, but the driver’s hands don’t move on the wheel. This is standard procedure for the current level of autonomous driving that Tesla cars are capable of: with the driver’s hands still on the steering wheel and at full attention. However, what they’re apparently not capable of is stopping before a child-sized-and-shaped obstruction with 100% reliability. So, we’re glad to see that this feature is still in testing, but do continue to question why it’s available as an upgrade — prohibitively expensive or otherwise? Anyway, here is our favorite reaction: “It’s so smart it knew it wasn’t a real child. Amazing technology,” a commenter said, which basically wins the internet.
